What is the USPS Christmas shipping deadline in 2026?
USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail: ship by Thursday, December 17. Priority Mail: Friday, December 18. Priority Mail Express: Saturday, December 19. These are USPS's recommended send-by dates for delivery before December 25 within the lower 48 states.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories need more time. USPS says Ground Advantage packages between the lower 48 and those places carry a 10-day or more service expectation, so check the delivery estimate for your two ZIP Codes on usps.com.
Hanukkah runs December 4 to 12 this year, which is earlier than most years, and USPS asks senders to adjust for it.
What is the FedEx Christmas shipping deadline in 2026?
FedEx Express Saver: ship by Monday, December 21. FedEx 2Day: Tuesday, December 22. FedEx overnight services: Wednesday, December 23. FedEx SameDay: Thursday, December 24. All of these target delivery by December 24.
FedEx Ground Economy is the earliest at Tuesday, December 15. FedEx Ground and Home Delivery depend on transit days, from December 17 for a five-day route to December 23 for a one-day route, so look up your ZIP Codes before you ship.
What is the UPS Christmas shipping deadline in 2026?
UPS 3 Day Select: ship by Monday, December 21. UPS 2nd Day Air: Tuesday, December 22. UPS Next Day Air: Wednesday, December 23. These target delivery by December 24.
UPS Ground has no single date. Its transit time depends on the two ZIP Codes, so use the UPS transit-time tool at ups.com/ctc. We pulled the UPS air dates from a carrier roundup because ups.com wasn't available to us, so confirm them on ups.com before you rely on them.
Pickup and delivery change around the holiday. There is no UPS pickup or delivery on Thanksgiving, November 26, or on Christmas Day. On December 24 all services deliver, but pickup is limited to Air shipments arranged by December 18.
When do Amazon, Target, Walmart, Etsy and Best Buy stop delivering for Christmas?
As of October 25, 2026, we haven't found a published 2026 order-by date for Amazon, Target, Walmart or Best Buy, so none are listed here. We don't guess dates. Each one will be added to a retailer table with its source as soon as the store announces it.
Etsy is different, because each shop sets its own processing time and cutoff. Check the listing and the shop's announcements, and message the seller if you are close to the line.
Until then, the carrier dates above are the safest guide, and ordering a week earlier than any store's cutoff leaves room for weather and delays.
What if you missed the Christmas shipping deadline?
You still have good options that don't depend on a truck. Pick the one that fits the person.
- Gift cards: an e-gift card can be emailed or texted the same day, and a store or restaurant favorite is almost always welcome.
- Experiences: tickets, a class, a dinner out or a spa visit, with a printed or emailed voucher to open on Christmas morning.
- Digital gifts: a subscription, an audiobook, a course or a photo book they can preview on a screen.
- Local and pickup: ask whether a nearby store has the item for same-day or in-store pickup, or look for a local maker.
- A thoughtful IOU: wrap a note for the exact gift, then deliver it when it arrives.
